This week I did something that I felt very good about. Yes, it was a photo shoot but for a beningn cause. 26-11-2008 marks a very dark point of time in the history of the maximum city when we were ravaged by mad gunmen from across the border. On the 6th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, a free-for-all government-aided musical public event commemorating the martyrdoom of the brave men in the uniform was organised at Gateway of India- ground zero of the attacks. Luke Kenny was the gracious host for the evening. The event started with chief guest Mr. Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, chairman of All-India Anti-Terrorist Front paying tribute by lighting candles and observing a moment’s silence for the martyrs. The main feature of course were the performances by some young & talented musicians that drew a lot of enthusuiastic onlookers. Sufi/Folk-rock band, RAM-Trio played some riveting numbers for the crowd- especially ‘Dama Dam Mast Kalendar’ and ‘Mareva Mashup‘ were quite a hit.
I was invited to the event by my friend Varun Lulla of the band Sangeet Anand who were performing at the event. Sangeet Anand is a music project launched by Varun and Satpal Walia. These guys play some real cool fusion music mixing electronic and tribal sounds through mystic instruments like Morchang, Kadimba and more. Here are some of the images from the evening:
