Rural women from Purnia in Bihar have taken charge of their own destiny. They have come together to form a company that is co-owned and run by them and they are looking for more women to join them on this bandwagon.
Being recognized by the Prime Minister himself, IIT Bombay’s SoULS project is one of the most innovative and scalable social impact projects in the country. It offers valuable insights into poverty alleviation, women empowerment and social change through access to clean energy.
Unemployment affects several sections of the society from the educated youth to the communities at the Bottom of the pyramid. It needs to be addressed at various levels through innovative social entrepreneurial models that rely on creation of jobs, livelihood opportunities and financial inclusion.
If tapped properly Women Self Help Groups could achieve twin goals of Self-employment and Women Empowerment. We need more passionately involved stakeholders.
