Indian government’s initiative towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals has attracted Social Entrepreneurs from every field to participate. The current ecosystem of fast paced development through 17 Sustainable Development Goals has presented a bigger vision for social entrepreneurs to align their forces.
In one of our previous posts on SDGs for education, we talked about Social Enterprises that are working in sync with the government to push us closer to our goals. Increased access to education in rural areas features as a top priority area for government and the civil society.
Santosh Phad, a social entrepreneur from Mumbai experienced this lacuna in rural education first hand. It was his personal experience that motivated him to start a social enterprise- ThinkSharp Foundation. Started in 2011, Thinksharp foundation is known for its Study Mall and Digital Classrooms.
In this Hangout, Santosh Phad talks about his personal journey, his vision behind Thinksharp Foundation, Study Mall and his role in India’s journey towards achieving SDGs for education.
Tidbits from the Hangout:
The goal is to provide a proper environment, resources and ecosystem to students from rural areas – all under one roof
Study Mall has now reached 3000 rural children where they can access resources in their own school, their own village
In rural schools, there is only the school building constructed without any infrastructure
Thinksharp is playing a small role in the entire nation’s efforts towards improving primary education
